Beyond the Car-Window Sociological Approach
This book presents a compilation of essays written by W.E.B. Du Bois, the indefatigable Black sociologist, political activist, and social movement leader. During his lifetime, Du Bois left his mark in a number of social movements and organizations, including the National Afro-American Council, American Negro Academy, Pan-African Association, Niagara Movement, National Association of Colored People (NAACP), Council on African Affairs, Peace Information Council, and the Secretariat for the Encyclopedia Africana. Du Bois dedicated his life to the organization and leadership of organizations concerned with freeing Black people from exploitation and oppression in the Diaspora and Africa. The eight essays in the collection were published between 1897 and 1902. They shed light on the insight of a great sociologist, political activist, and social movement leader. Du Bois (1903) published revised versions of the eight essays in his landmark book The Souls of Black Folk.—J. Vern Cromartie
